Highest Awards for Girls

Girl Scouts can earn 3 higher awards: Bronze (Juniors), Silver (Cadettes) and Gold (Seniors/Ambassadors). Please see the GSEP website for more comprehensive information on the awards.

Silver & Gold Miner Program

The Mill Creek SU offers small financial grants to girls who have approved proposals to earn their Gold and Silver Awards. To apply, please fill out this application and email it along with the following to millcreek515@gmail.com with the subject line “Silver & Gold Miners Application.” You must include the following:

  • Project Approval Letter/Email from Council

  • Approved Proposal as submitted to GSEP

  • Timeline

  • Budget

Adult Awards

Service Unit Level Awards

SU Awards include:

  • Volunteer Years of Service Pin (5,10,15, 20 years…)
    Reflects total number of years as an active adult volunteer. Given in 5-year increments.

  • Volunteer of Excellence Award Pin
    Recognizes volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls in any pathway that implements the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through use of the national program portfolio or who have contributed outstanding service in support of the service unit's mission to girl and adult members.

  • Friend of Girl Scouting Award Certificate
    Recognizes a business or organization who supports the Mill Creek SU by providing meeting space, hosting programs, providing financial support, or other means of visible support to your troop or the service unit.

Nominations for SU Awards are due the first Friday in May.
Please submit the nomination form online (links in each section above) and two endorsement forms for each nomination.

Mill Creek Emerald Award – New in MY23!

For outstanding and exemplary work benefitting the service unit, either:

(1) For significant administrative efforts to manage the SU in accordance with GSUSA/GSEP standards and guidelines, and to engage effectively with troop leadership, with measurable results to the Service Unit. Or (2) For planning or chairing a service unit event or initiative that provides an opportunity for girls and/or adults to engage in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through badgework, skills or other activities. 

Additional Criteria:

  • Efforts must benefit the entire SU, not just one troop

  • Awarded by the Adult Awards chair/committee in conjunction with the SUM(s)

  • All awardees must be registered volunteers within the past year

  • Can be awarded once within a 3-year period

Council Level Awards

Formal adult awards are available to recognize exemplary service of adult Girl Scouts who go above and beyond the expectations of an individual’s volunteer position. See the GSEP website for information on how to nominate a candidate.
