Troop Finances

Submit questions about troop finances to our SU Treasurer.

Troop Bank Accounts

Troop banking is pretty simple. You should identify two registered, cleared parents to be the primary signers, and the SU Treasurer is the third signer. The best people to be signers are people most likely to do the shopping for the troop so they have a troop debit card in their name and can sign checks. Anyone can deposit. Generally all signers (including the SU Treasurer) will be required to appear together to establish the account. Some banks are a little more flexible around this.

TD Bank is the official GSEP preferred bank.  We have a great relationship with the TD Bank Haverford branch for opening accounts.  Many troops have also been happy with the Citizen’s Bank Wynnewood branch next to Whole Foods.  Wells Fargo and PNC have minimum account balance fees, and we've heard complaints about Santander. The choice is yours, though.

We also encourage you to get someone to serve as your troop treasurer. It's a great support position that's easy to delegate and will be a lifesaver when cookie season deposits ramp up.  They don’t have to be a signer on the troop bank account.

There is more information on troop finances on the GSEP website, as well as a Troop Finance Basics training module that is pretty brief and helpful. You can find it by logging into your account on the GSEP website and going to MYGS/GSLearn.

Troop Financial Reports (TFRs)

Every troop MUST complete a Troop Financial Report at the end of every Girl Scout year, usually by June 30 or sooner. Your troop will not be eligible to sell cookies the following year until you submit the TFR.
